What is clean label?
The clean label
We often hear about the clean label in the food industry, but what is it really?
Consumers have less and less confidence in the food brands they consume and are more and more careful about the composition of their products. It is then in the face of this demand for transparency that the clean label comes into play.
Indeed, it is a concept that highlights the fact of using natural ingredients in a food product and therefore understanding more easily what is hidden inside! So, to know if a food product is clean label or not, just look at the label of your favorite products and pay a little more attention to it.
A practical example with Maltivor
We show you the example of a so-called clean label product with the packaging of our Malti'Mix Falafel & Vegetable Galette :
“Chickpea flour*, amber beer spent grain flour* (35%), shelled sunflower seeds*, rolled oats*, chia seeds* (salvia hispanica), garlic*, onion*, sweet paprika*, IGP Guérande fine salt, parsley*, black pepper*. *Ingredients from organic farming”
- simple and well-known names,
- natural ingredients,
- a short list of ingredients,
- no additives,
- no added preservatives.
It is this kind of elements that make a product considered clean label or not! And this is obviously the case for all Maltivor products!
In addition to this clean label, the organic farming label, the eco-score or even the nutri-score, are important elements that allow for real transparency between the brand and the consumer. It is in this desire that at Maltivor, we eco-design our products as much as possible every day!
The next time you buy a food product, keep your eyes peeled and pay attention to the ingredient list!
